Getting Around
Transport shapes every Greenwich move, and the borough has an unusually mixed set of it. The DLR runs through Greenwich and Cutty Sark, the Jubilee line reaches North Greenwich and the O2, and the Elizabeth line now stops at Woolwich and Abbey Wood, alongside the mainline at Greenwich, Maze Hill, Westcombe Park, Charlton and Woolwich. The river matters too, with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers piers at Greenwich, North Greenwich and Woolwich. For the crew, the A206 through Woolwich Road and Trafalgar Road is the main east to west route, with the A2 over Blackheath and Shooters Hill and the Blackwall Tunnel approach on the western edge.

This is where a bit of planning saves you money in Greenwich. Central Greenwich around the park and the town centre, Blackheath, and the busier streets near the stations sit inside controlled parking zones, and the conservation areas add their own restrictions, so a removals van cannot simply park up outside for the day.
For a proper kerbside move you want a suspended parking bay directly outside, booked in advance through the Royal Borough of Greenwich. For a resident move the council gives the second bay free on the first day, and otherwise it costs £66.40 per bay per day plus a £66.40 admin fee, with at least ten working days notice, so this is not something to leave to the week of the move. Access here has a few Greenwich quirks. The streets around the Old Royal Naval College and the market are narrow, cobbled and busy with visitors, Blackheath and Shooters Hill climb steeply, and the big riverside developments at Woolwich and the peninsula run strict goods-lift and loading-bay booking that we arrange with building management ahead of the day.
